China Lied and People Died
In the wake of the coronavirus, American sentiment towards China has dropped to record lows; and it has become clear China will be an issue that voters take with them to the polls this November.
Joe Biden, the presumptive Democrat nominee, has had decades to prove that he can be tough on malign governments like China; but instead, his ineptitude on foreign policy and his soft spot for China have resulted in terrible trade deals and suspicious personal business dealings at best.
Joe Biden preaches globalism and believes that China is not a threat to Americans. In a 2012 speech, Biden said, “I believe that a rising China is a positive development — not only for China but also for the United States and the world. It will fuel economic growth and prosperity, and a rising China will bring to the fore a new partner with whom we can have help meeting the global challenges we all face.”
If ever there were a time for China to showcase this partnership, it is now. But where are they?
China lied about the spread and severity of the coronavirus contagion. They silenced doctors and reporters who tried to alert the medical community of the virus. They used this time to hoard the medical supplies they needed to respond to the pandemic. And once the world got wise to China’s cover-up, the Chinese Communist Party began to show its true colors:
- China has been shipping defective PPE to countries in need around the world. Sadly, because of decades of terrible trade deals, they control a majority of the supply chain. This created the PPE shortage that affected medical workers in America and around the globe.
- China government officials tried to blame America for the spread of the coronavirus in a bogus propaganda campaign.
- China lied about its contagion rate and death toll, data that would have been useful for America and countries around the world for modeling and response strategy.
- When Australia announced that they wanted to launch an investigation into the origins of the coronavirus, China immediately threatened to cut off their imports.
- The Chinese Communist Party pressured EU news organizations to soften their criticism of China’s response to the virus, effectively spreading CCP talking points.
These are just a few examples, but they point to the bottom line: China lied and people died. China has been quick to cast blame for the coronavirus on anyone but themselves. These are not the actions of an American partner amid a global crisis, these are the actions of a malign government that must be addressed.
President Trump’s strong executive leadership has held China accountable for their predatory behavior and highlighted the need to bring American jobs and supply chains back home, now more than ever; while Biden’s gross underestimation of China completely minimizes the threat they pose to the United States. The American people have become wise to China’s misdeeds and want a leader who will stand up to China, demand accountability, put America first, and bring our critical supply chains back home. Beijing Biden is not that leader, and Americans will make that clear when they cast their ballots in November.
