Democrats continue to spin, obfuscate and disregard the truth

Democrats and many in the media love to repeat false claims about President Trump's record and character. They continually disregard their own policy failures and scandals, and propagate the fake news they think will score them points with the American public.

Below are only a few examples of the left reciting debunked Democratic Talking Points at last night's Democratic Convention, by independent media fact-checkers and news reports.

SPIN: Former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates claimed that President Trump has weaponized the justice department to persecute his enemies and reward his friends.

• FACT:  Yates, and the entire Obama Department of Justice are the ones that weaponized the DOJ and intel agencies to surveil the Trump Campaign in 2016. According to Fox News: “During the Russia investigation, the FBI relied heavily on the file compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele to obtain a surveillance warrant to spy on [Trump campaign adviser Carter] Page. Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz has since found that the FBI systematically violated rules designed to protect Americans from unauthorized surveillance. In Cater Page's case, an ex-FBI lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, even falsified an email from the CIA to make Page's Russian contacts seem nefarious, when Page in fact had been an informant to the CIA about those contacts. Clinesmith is expected to plead guilty in the first criminal case to stem from Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into the Russia investigation's origins.”

SPIN: Sally Yates claims Joe Biden puts “America first.”

• FACT: Over the course of his 47 year career in Washington, Joe Biden has frequently put other interests above America and his family has profited off it. Biden supported China’s entry into the World Trade Organization and led the efforts to denote China with “Most Favored Nation” trading status, a move that decimated 3.7 million American jobs. What remains concerning is that while Joe Biden virtue-signals on the importance of American manufacturing, he neglects to recognize the threat that China, if ignored, could pose on the world stage saying of China, “They’re not bad folks, folks”, China is  “not a problem,” “not bad,” “not competition,” and a prosperous China is in American workers’ “self-interest.”
• Joe Biden’s son, Hunter also profited off of Joe’s cozy relationship with China. Hunter was given a board position at BHR, a Chinese private equity firm. Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two with Joe Biden to China," the senators wrote. "While in China, he helped arrange for Jonathan Li, CEO of Bohai Capital, to 'shake hands' with Vice President Biden. Afterward, Hunter Biden met with Li for reportedly a 'social meeting.'” After the China trip, BHR's business license was approved.
• Hunter was also given a role on the board of Ukrainian energy board, Burisma and paid  $50k/month despite having no prior relevant experience. He acknowledged he may not have gotten the job were it not for his connections to the vice presidency.

SPIN: Senator Schumer said thousands of Americans have been tear gassed and beaten during peaceful protests.

• FACT: Not all of these protests are “peaceful,” in fact, many have become violent. Riots across the country have resulted in looting, homicides, and arson, which has jeopardized the safety of Americans across the country. Riots were declared yet again in Portland last night, after so-called “protesters” by the mainstream media marched into a government building, smashed windows and set it on fire.

SPIN: Senator Schumer said Biden will make “Healthcare affordable for all”

• FACT: If elected, Biden’s health-care plan aims“far beyond” the legacy of Obamacare, expanding the public option to those with employer coverage and giving it free to illegal immigrants, all but ensuring private health care plans and jobs would be destroyed. The public option championed by Joe Biden will kill the private insurance plans held by millions of Americans, a fact that President Obama himself acknowledged in 2009. Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare who has now endorsed Joe Biden’s health care plan, once authored multiple studies that confirmed government-run health insurance like the type Biden is proposing drives people off of their private health plans. Under Obamacare premiums escalated “an average of 25 percent across the 39 states served by the federally run online market."
• Biden also is proposing bringing back the Obamacare individual mandate, a tax that disproportionally affects low-income individuals.

SPIN: President Clinton praised Biden’s handling of the last economic downturn as Vice President.

• FACT: The truth is Biden oversaw the slowest economic recovery since World War II and eight years of stagnant wage growth. Biden oversaw the 2009 stimulus package, which failed to deliver the “shovel ready jobs” he promised, and was plagued by taxpayer waste, fraud and abuse. Remember the $535 million Solyndra disaster?

LIE: Nikki Fried claimed "In the early days of this virus, Donald Trump didn't listen to the experts."

• FACT: President Trump’s early action against coronavirus saved lives. While Democrats were focusing on impeachment, the White House established a task force in January and immediately sought to send health experts to China on January 3. LIE: Brendan Boyle falsely perpetrated the lie that President Trump is eliminating protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions.

• FACT: President Trump has always made clear that he will ensure Americans with pre-existing conditions are protected. He is currently pursing an executive order requiring healthcare insurers to cover all pre-existing conditions.

SPIN: Raumesh Akbari claimed Joe Biden has been fighting for women his entire career.

• FACT: What about the #Metoo standards? Several women have accused Biden of sexual harassment. Kamala Harris, Biden’s running-mate, said on April 2, 2019 that she believed the four women, who at the time were accusing Biden of inappropriate touching. After Harris made the remarks in question on April 2, 2019, three more women publicly accused Biden of having touched them inappropriately, made them uncomfortable, or made inappropriate remarks about their physical appearance, according to Snopes. Harris has yet to address whether she still believes these women and the accusations leveled at Biden.

LIE: Brendan Boyle falsely claimed that the Trump tax cuts that only benefit big corporations and the rich.

• FACT: Even the New York Times admitted most Americans received a tax cut under President Trump, despite Democrats spin it only went to corporations: “The Tax Policy Center estimates that 65 percent of people paid less under the law and that just 6 percent paid more. (The rest saw little change to their taxes.) 
• Other analyses reached similar conclusions. The Joint Committee on Taxation — Congress’s nonpartisan team of tax analysts — found that every income group would see a tax cut on average. So did the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, a left-leaning think tank that was sharply critical of the law. In fact, that group went even further: In a December 2017 analysis, it found that every income group in every state would pay less on average under the law in 2019.”
• The Washington Post agreed, in its fact check, it stated: “Most Americans received a tax cut.”

LIE: Khizr Khan repeated the lie that President Trump called neo-Nazis who rallied in Charlottesville “very fine people.”

• FACT: After Charlottesville, President Trump specifically and totally condemned Neo-Nazis and White Nationalists. As CNN’s Jake Tapper has said, President Trump did not call neo-Nazis or white supremacists “very fine people.”
• Jake Tapper:"Elsewhere in those remarks the President did condemn neo-Nazis and white supremacists. So he’s not saying that the neo-Nazis and white supremacists are very fine people”
• President Trump, August 15, 2017:“I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists — because they should be condemned totally.”

LIE: Former Secretary of State John Kerry took credit for the Biden-Obama administration eliminating “the threat of an Iran with a nuclear weapon.”

• FACT: Even the Washington Post admitted “Kerry’s assessment is not universally shared.” That’s because the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action the Obama administration signed with Iran had a sunset period and gradually allowed Iran to pursue more nuclear energy research, allowing the world's number one state sponsor of terrorism to keep working toward nuclear weapons capability.

SPIN: Former Secretary of State Colin Powell claimed Biden is strong with dictators.

• FACT: Biden is weak on foreign policy. The Secretary of Defense under the Obama-Biden Administration, Robert Gates, even admitted, “I think [Biden's] been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”
