Heitkamp’s Embrace Of Illegal Immigrants Hit By Trump-Aligned Group

North Dakota Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is coming under fire for her support of “dreamers” and sanctuary cities, this time in a $980,000 campaign from the Trump-aligned group America First Action.

The effort from the outside group that is working to keep Republicans in control of the Senate and win President Trump reelection in 2020 features a new ad Tuesday that ties Heitkamp to liberals embracing amnesty for illegal immigrants and the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The new ad plays off a direct mail campaign recently sent to voters in the state. “Again and again, Heitkamp sided with Washington liberals,” said the latest pamphlet that pictured the senator with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

The ad, meanwhile, includes images of Sens. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand, called leaders of the liberal amnesty movement.

“When it comes to Heidi Heitkamp, we don’t know whose side she’s on,” said the new ad.

It is set to appear on these North Dakota stations: KVLY, KVRR, KXJB, WDAY, KBMY, KFYR, KNDX, and KXMC. On cable, it will air locally on CNN, Discovery, ESPN, Fox News, HGTV, MSNBC, History Channel, TBS, USA, Hallmark, and TNT.

America First Action said, “Not only has Sen.Heitkamp criticized President Trump's plan to build a wall along the southern border, but she has voted repeatedly to protect dangerous sanctuary cities. She also voted for amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants, including criminals who committed serious crimes like domestic violence, aggravated assault, child abuse, and drunk driving. It is imperative that North Dakotans cast their vote for Kevin Cramer for Senate on Election Day.”

Challenger Rep. Kevin Cramer, has also targeted Heitkamp’s support for illegal immigrants, and has an ad that includes Trump hitting Heitkamp on immigration issues.

“I voted against funding sanctuary cities because federal tax dollars shouldn’t go to cities that hide illegal immigrants, especially those who commit violent crimes,” Cramer said in his own ad. “It’s hard to understand why Heidi Heitkamp, who is a former attorney general, voted to fund sanctuary cities that ignore the rule of law and put our citizens and law-enforcement officers at risk.”
